Kalama Washington

Kalama Washington

Kalama is one of the smallest cities in Cowlitz County but also it is one of the most unique and prosperous. Located only about 30 miles north of Portland OR, and about 140 miles south of Seattle WA, Interstate I – 5, and Railway running directly through the town and easy access to the Columbia River, Kalama is small town with a lot to offer.

Founded in 1853, the town is the home of approximately 2,400 people who are proud to call Kalama their home. Kalama’s narrow strip down town lies along side of interstate I-5, the rest of the town rests in the steep hills above giving it some of the most unique and amazing views of the Columbia River, the city of Longview and the beautiful Oregon hills.

Kalama is also well known for the large collection of Native American, Collectible and Antique stores, a unique park dedicated to the Northwest Indian-carved totem poles and the home of one of the tallest single tree totem poles in the word. Fishing and boating are some of the many other popular things for visitors and residents to enjoy.
